Acclaimed for its breathtaking views of green mountain slopes that graciously slide into azurine waters, the Corfu Riviera covers a stretch of coast around 30 kilometres long on the north east coast of Corfu Island.
Like its French counterpart, this the summertime residence of many international jetsetters with lucrative villas tucked perfectly between the rocks and sea.
Small fishing inlets, waterfront tavernas and pebble beach coves for two, create an enchanting seascape that is both peaceful and astoundingly beautiful.
The best way to experience the Corfu Riviera is of course by boat. You can hire a private boat from nearby Gouvia Marina or rent a smaller engine boat from anywhere between Ipsos and Kassiopi.
It is of course possible to reach most of the main beaches by car, but many of the breathtaking coastal views are lost in the process.
An old traditional footpath is also most enjoyable during the early or late months of summer, that travels along the water’s edge from Nissaki to Aghios Stephanos.
Don’t miss out on the impressive undulating rocks and underwater cave just past Nissaki, with the famous small chapel on the rocks, as seen in the latest ITV series of The Durrells.
You can’t miss the Gerald Durrell’s White House as it sits on the water front of Kalami Bay. If you have a taste for water sport this is the place.
Lunch of course is to be had at Agni beach, where you can pull up by boat on any one of three taverna jetties. Glyfa Taverna further to the south, is rather more quiet, but equally picturesque.
Make sure you stop at Kerassia Beach or Aghios Stephanos for an ice-cream or Greek cup of coffee and then move on to discover your own private paradise on the headland before Kassiopi.
From here you will be surprised by the proximity of the Albanian coast across the Straights of Corfu and look out for the hazardous water well in the sea.
There is nothing like the sense of freedom acquired by being captain of your own boat and to experience the easy life at sea.
By car it is worth visiting Avlaki beach with equally good food and small sailing boats for hire.
The Corfu Riviera is where most European Villa Holiday groups where born before spreading to other countries, due to the quality of accommodation on offer and their proximity to the sea.
S&O Villas are the gateway to Corfu’s north east coast, with easy access to every little part of it.
This is the place with the highest return rate in Europe and we are sure you will be captured by its mesmerising beauty too.
